Settings Screen
Now that you understand how Blackout functions, there are a few options you can customize to speed up or customize your workflow.
Tap the Blackout logo in the upper right hand of the interface. Then tap the Settings tab in the center of the popup.
Settings
- Default Time Buttons (seconds) [Default 3 seconds]: Change the default value for fading a manual value (e.g.
Fix 1 At 50 Time Enter
would take Fix 1 to 50% over 3 seconds). - ++ or -- Command Value [Default 5 points]: Increment or decrement the current value by the amount set here after making a selection. (e.g.
Fix 1 ++
would increment Fix 1, 5 points). - Default Look Transition Time (seconds) [Default 3 seconds]: Change the default transition time for recording a Look.
- Fixture “at at” Percentage [Default 50% intensity]: Set the default intensity for the
Fix 1 At At
command. - Default Back Button Behavior [Default Instant]: By default, when pressing the back button, Blackout goes to the previous Look instantly. Toggle this setting to enable fading with the recorded timing.
- Number Pad 10X Factor [Default Off]: Toggle this option to type
Fix 1 at 5 Enter
to set the value to 50%. You will need to type “05” to set the level to 5%. - Single Press Full or Out [Default Off]: Toggle this setting to auto terminate the command line when doing
Fix 1 Full
orFix 1 Out
- Scroll Wheel Activation [Default Off]: This is to prevent accidental adjustments of lights while carrying the iPad around. Toggle this setting to use the scroll wheel without pressing

. Any selection can be adjusted instantly once selected, with the level wheel. - Enable Background Output [Default On]: Allows Blackout to continue outputting DMX when switching apps or putting the iPad to sleep. Note that battery drain can be significant if the app is not closed completely.
